I'll join you in that thought. As charming a sort as Honir and Mimir were, their presence did not precisely lend itself to open exploration.

Ah, Dr. McCoy? I believe we've spoken briefly -- excellent work with the flood relief. It's good to hear that he'll be present.

[ A hint of inquiry tinges his tone, warm and gently prodding. Leonard, huh? ]

I didn't know the two of you acquainted.

I think you're quite right about that, much as I hope we'll not have need of his skills. Did you promise him tea abroad?

[ Okay, he's now he's just teasing. He hopes, privately, they're upon casual enough terms for it -- but frankly, after the trouble with the runes, he's rather given up on more than cursory formality. ]

For the best you won't be in hot water -- what is worthy of your trouble?

Perhaps that's true, but company does make it bearable.

I'll be certain to see you stick to your vows.

I do try. You'll have to introduce me more formally, when all this is said and done.

And risk such a rocky start? Nonsense. I'm sure that we'll work it out in time.

Oh, often enough for the both of us, I'm sure. But it wouldn't be a terribly interesting life to get along with everyone, would it?

[ As discretion is the better part of valour, so putting up with glaring personality flaws is friendship's own companion. ]

No, he's seemed an amiable sort on the network. I look forward to speaking -- and I'm quite glad you two have had the chance to.

[ Emotion? Sounds like one of those tropical diseases -- see, that is why you boil water on journeys.

That's alright. He'll never miss a chance to ramble.

I didn't notice any plantlife in the cavern at the last, did you? No animals or insects, nothing alive. Plenty of dirt, however. A great deal of stone and ruin.

If the life of this plane's natives -- and our own presence upon it -- are both tied to the gods, then it follows that a divine death would alter the canyon's ability to sustain it. I wonder at how that might display; is that null zone entrenched more in Ginnungagap's physical matter, or its psychic presence as a place? Should soil samples be removed, can they be coaxed back into fertility in Asgard, or will they continue to repel vitality?

There's a great deal of unknown left between the connections of traveler and destination. If the gods' souls act as fishing lures to ours, I would have thought to see Odin's sleep fall bring consequence to our house.

Of course, magic and logic often find themselves at squabble.

[It took him awhile to even built up mild curiosity to find interest in the place the world had told him would be home. His home was the bureau, it's where he resided in his own world and where he would rather be in one as strange as this. It was more than that though, the decoration, the design, the items within where are strange to him and foreign and while he was normally a very insightful and learned person the sickness that had clung to him since his arrival had only started to waver and only a few days prior, once the city had seemed to calm, did he feel like himself.

As normal as one could feel in such a situation.

The key to the room opened and he stayed for a few hours simply looking around. It was the moment he sat down upon the bed and laid to look at the ceiling he felt the weight of something upon the covered surface. Quick to jump to his feet, a ball of fur with eyes staring at him caught his attention and he stared back intently before realising it was indeed a cat. A small sneer and moments later he was trying to shoo it away but budge it would not. It seemed domesticated, so even though he didn't know where the beast had come from, he did notice an open door. Logic suggesting, he lifted the cat carefully from the bed, holding it under his arm and moved through the door looking within. A beam of light caught his attention immediately; another door, slightly ajar.

A breath, a pause and Malik looked down at the cat as if seeking approval then stepped forward. With his empty shoulder he nudged the wooden surface open slowly, eyes drawn to the side. He would have knocked but with only one arm and his only one left filled with a furry and rather large feline, that was difficult. In an accented tone, Malik called out.]

Hello?

[The cat wasn't particularly heavy and if anything it was more amusing than a bother but as he looked around the room until the others attention was gained by his generic greeting, he took note of the books and couldn't help but admire her collection. He had been told about a library here before, a grand one at that but he still had not had the motivation to step inside, not yet, not until he found his own feet. Still, it was a nice thing to see immediately, something familiar like the texts and scrolls that filled his bureau, his home, back where he came from.

When she finally turned to him, his attention shifted back immediately to acknowledge her acknowledging him, shifting the cat in his singular hold.]
I apologise for the intrusion.

[As she stood, he watched her carefully but attempted to keep his posture relaxed enough, he didn't want to seem threatening, he just was unsure about most things. Though he was sure he had a cat, and was right in his guessing--her cat. Shifting to hold the beast outward towards her he gave a small shake of his head.]

Not a bother at all, more a surprise for having only just arrived to see you have company.

( it's been a hell of a time, since they got back from their trip out of the city. between odin's return and everyone's explosive responses, bones had decided to take a step back. but of course, that never really works out for him. he's somehow found himself as one of the senior medics in the city, and that requires a certain amount of coordination and attention. and he's never been the kind to shirk that sort of duty.

nevertheless, he prioritizes. and it's time to make good on a promise he made entirely too long ago. today, it's a hour or so before sunset as he sets off from sigyn towards odin. he's not dressed to any particular degree of formality-- he's never really been one for ties and blazers, anyhow-- but he looks nice enough and he's got a small potted plant in one hand. it's not very big, and there are only a few sprigs of something green peeking out of the soil. still, it's something.

eventually he's at evy's door. he knocks twice in quick succession, takes a step back, and waits. )

Thanks. ( he mumbles that before stepping inside, explaining with little bursts of logic as he goes. ) I thought I'd come see how you were doing-- since, you know, everything-- and then I figured I still owed you dinner, and if you were home when I got here I thought we might--

( he's rambles and mutterings are usually kept to himself, out of earshot of the unsuspecting public. but whatever it is he's feeling at the moment has made him more loose-lipped than usual, and when he realizes this he cuts off abruptly and just holds up the pot. )

I got you-- here.
